The Transfer Kansas portal houses all Systemwide Transfer (SWT) courses approved by the Kansas Board of Regents, for which faculty develop and update learning outcomes. SWT courses transfer to any Kansas public institution offering an equivalent course. The decision of lower division courses to count toward upper division credit hours is at the discretion of the receiving institution.

What is Reverse Transfer?
Reverse Transfer is the process of retroactively granting associate degrees to students who have not completed the requirements of an associate degree before they transferred from a Kansas community college or technical college to a Kansas public university.
Within the first year, students who transfer coursework from a community college or technical college to a public university will be notified if they are eligible to be considered for Reverse Transfer. Eligible students must have completed 60 credit hours at one or more public community colleges or technical colleges in Kansas and must consent to the release of their academic records. Academic records will be evaluated for degree completion and degrees will be conferred based upon a satisfactory evaluation.
Why do Reverse Transfer?
A college degree is key to economic opportunity. Research shows that on average, people with more education make more money than those with less. Associate degree holders average about $200,000 more over a lifetime than individuals with some college but no degree, while bachelor’s degree holders average over $720,000 more.
The associate degree represents an educational achievement, a credential for career advancement, and a building block to additional academic accomplishments. Further, research shows that students who earn the associate degree via reverse transfer are more likely to continue their education and complete a bachelor’s degree.
Board Policy Manual, Chapter III, Section A.3.
Reverse Transfer Procedures (updated 12/18/2024) This document describes the procedures for systemwide reverse transfer between Kansas Regents Universities and Kansas two-year institutions, including community colleges and technical colleges. |
The National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) provided an overview and in-depth review of the reverse transfer process. They demonstrated the foundational processes of how 2-year and 4-year institutions could utilize the service. The Clearinghouse ensured there was time for all participants' burning questions.

REVIEW COURSES FOR 2024 KCOG
Faculty led discipline-specific groups (Kansas Core Outcomes Groups) meet annually or as necessary, to confirm or articulate learning outcomes and discuss courses for inclusion in the Kansas Systemwide Transfer process. Each course has core outcomes, which are observable and measurable actions that students will be able to perform upon successful completion of a course. Additional information about the work and duties of faculty at KCOGs is available in the Overview of Transfer and Articulation Council and Kanas Core Outcomes Groups.
Kansas Core Outcomes Groups Reports are developed annually and include reports from each discipline group:
